Whitney Jacobs graduated from Ohio University in 2005 with a BFA in Performance and Choreography. Since 2004, Jacobs has been a company member of Azaguno, an African dance and drum ensemble based out of Athens, OH. With Azaguno, Jacobs has performed throughout Ghana, Taiwan, South Korea, Canada, Italy and the United States. Jacobs worked at Contemporary Dance Theater of Cincinnati, Ohio as the Studio Manager, and her work has been presented at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, Cincinnati. In 2006 Jacobs moved to New York City and has since performed with Forces of Nature Dance Theater, Johari Mayfield, and Jennifer Archibald. In 2007, Jacobs founded Jacobs Campbell Dance with Christopher Campbell, and established it as a contemporary dance company dedicated to the collaboration and creation of the performing arts. In its four years infancy, Jacobs Campbell Dance has produced four full length evening concerts and performed at various venues throughout the NYC area including Joyce Soho, The Living Theater, Harlem Stage, Chen Dance Center, Brecht Forum, Center Stage, Brooklyn Lyceum and Triskelion Arts. Jacobs Campbell Dance was a 2010 recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts BUILD grant. Additionally, Whitney Jacobs works as the Physical Education teacher and Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at The Trevor Day School in New York, and is pursuing an MFA in Performing Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
